The Tennessee Respite Coalition (TRC) supports and advocates for family caregivers across the lifespan. TRC established as a grassroots advocacy group in 1996 and evolved into a 501(c)3 service-focused organization in 2003. TRC’s four main areas of service include a toll-free helpline, advocacy/education, volunteer respite, and respite vouchers. The funds requested in the application will support respite vouchers for family caregivers, program-related volunteer travel and meals, staff salary, benefits, and mileage to support the programs. 48 of 60 caregivers (80%) (40 families from respite vouchers and 20 from volunteer respite) will report lower stress levels, a feeling of a sense of control over how and when to use their respite, feeling better educated about caregiving and community resources, a desire to have respite again and an increase in quality of life.
