Soldiers And Families Embraced Inc (SAFE) provides free individual and group counseling to active duty military, veterans and their families (for deployment issues, transitions, trauma, drug and alcohol and marital counseling) at no cost to the client. The funds requested in the application will support 590 counseling sessions for combat veterans, military couples and family members, including teens and children. Of 40 intakes of new potential clients over a 4-month period, 35 (85%) will be meet at least once with a counselor. (For many in this demographic, just reaching out is a significant outcome; returning after the initial intake is also significant for many.) Of those who meet with a counselor, 28 out of 35 (80%) will complete at least 12 sessions of counseling.
