CASA Nashville

CASA Nashville was founded in 1984 when the National Council of Jewish Women, Nashville Section, and the Junior League of Nashville realized the need for these advocates in Davidson County. The mission of CASA is to provide highly trained volunteers to serve as advocates for abused and neglected children moving through the child welfare system. The agency’s goals/outcomes for the year include: 95% of CASA Volunteers will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the court process, the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences and trauma on families, and trauma-informed advocacy strategies upon completion of CASA training as indicated by a post-training assessment; and an average of 95% of children who exit care in accordance with CASA’s recommendations to the court will remain in stable placements for 6 months after exiting state custody (which is the critical window for permanency success per research by National CASA), reducing the likelihood of future ACEs, which will improve long-term mental and physical health outcomes.
