Nashville, TN – July 15, 2024 – The Healing Trust, a local grantmaking foundation, announced the appointment of Sam Jackson as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective January 1, 2025.

Sam has been an integral part of The Healing Trust since January 2020, leading its grants and programming with dedication and vision since July 2021. Before joining The Healing Trust, Sam gained valuable nonprofit and development experience with the Middle Tennessee Council Boy Scouts and University School of Nashville, where he successfully led comprehensive fundraising initiatives and was the Executive Director of the Horizons program. His background in these roles has equipped him with the skills and insights to guide our organization forward.

About Sam Jackson

Sam Jackson previously served as the VP of Programs and Grants at The Healing Trust.  During his time at The Healing Trust, Sam developed its participatory grantmaking program, managed the Davidson County grants portfolio, and spearheaded significant changes to its grants program, ensuring it aligns with Trust-Based philanthropy principles.

Sam has 20 years of combined experience in education and the nonprofit industry, serving in various roles. Sam has built and led programs and partnerships and has extensive experience in campaigns, marketing, major gifts, annual giving, grant writing, events, and volunteer and staff management. Sam earned his Bachelor of Science in Social Work and master’s degree in health, Physical Education, and Recreation from Tennessee State University. He is a certified fundraising executive, a graduate of LiberTea Collective, and a 2022 Hull Fellow.
