Our Response to Charlottesville

We know words cannot adequately capture what many in our country are feeling this week. We also cannot be silent, and we must strongly condemn the hateful ideology that led to this past weekend’s events. White supremacy, extremism of any kind, and domestic terrorism have no place in our society. The Healing Trust stands with our colleagues at the Southeastern Council of Foundations to support efforts that unite people of all backgrounds, races, gender, and identity through dialogue, love of humankind, cooperation, and understanding around shared values. In the words of Martin Luther King Jr, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
