YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Founded in 1898, the YWCA first received its letter of determination for tax-exempt status in 1942. Fulfilling its mission of empowering women, the YWCA has been Nashville’s primary provider of domestic violence services for 40 years. The agency’s goals/outcomes for the year include:  160 of 200 (80%) adults will identify strategies for physical and emotional safety by creating a safety plan. 1,904 of 2,380 (80%) callers in crisis will increase their immediate safety by developing an individualized safety plan over the phone. 80% of students in the MEND program will report on a survey an increased understanding of how culture supports violence against women.
