Wilson County CASA
The mission of Wilson County CASA, incorporated in 1987, is to provide specially selected and trained community volunteers to speak up for abused and neglected children, one child at a time, so that each child is permitted to grow up in a safe and permanent home. The grant requested in this application will be used to fund one half of the salary and taxes/benefits of a volunteer coordinator and registration for the National CASA Conference for three staff and three volunteers. 102 children out of 171 (60%) of children served by Wilson County CASA will be in safe, stable housing, where they will grow and thrive, and have their case closed in six months or less. 162 children out of 171 (95%) whose cases are closed by this program will remain permanently closed, no longer needing court involvement. This is an indicator that they are in safe, stable housing where they will grow and thrive, essentially breaking the cycle of abuse. Upon case closure during this grant period, 86 children of the 171 that will be closed (50%), will indicate that that they agree or strongly agree that through the support of CASA they feel that their voice was heard in court. This indicates that they were satisfied with the services that Wilson County CASA provided. This level is reflective of the fact that not everyone will return the survey.
