Since 1973 Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency has aimed to improve the quality of life to residents of the 14-county area. Its mission is to promote a strong sense of community and family values by administering programs designed to provide tools, knowledge and resources to improve the quality of life, promote a positive sense of individual self-worth, encourage responsible decision making and provide opportunities for individuals to become productive and independent. The grant requested will be used to fund a portion of salary for the Part-time Volunteer Coordinator; part-time Program Assistant; one full time and one part-time Program Coordinator in the various counties; mileage to travel for the investigative work; indirect costs/Administrative Overhead and TBI background check for the new volunteers. 42 out of 45 (94%) of new volunteers who complete the 30 hours of CASA initial training will be matched with an abused and or neglected child within 1 month of being sworn in by the Juvenile Judge.  80 out of 89 (90%) volunteers will be the only CASA advocate the child will know through the duration of their case in states custody.
