Tennessee Justice Center
The Tennessee Justice Center, established in 1995, advocates on behalf of Tennessee families in need: In areas of public policy having the greatest impact on their health and welfare; By means which afford clients; Opportunities to make their own voices heard; and in ways which emphasize collaboration across lines of race, class and generation. The grant requested in this application will be used to fund salaries and benefits for REACH staff members including the REACH Coordinator and the Staff Attorney. 60 children will become REACH clients. 42 of 50 (70%) of cases will be resolved. 36 of 42 children (85%) will receive needed health care and/or health insurance enrollment thanks to REACH's advocacy. Being insured and getting adequate services means improved school performance, better continuity and regularity of care, more physically active lifestyles, and fewer unmet health care needs (uninsured children are 10 times more likely to have unmet health care needs than insured children).
