Tennessee Chapter of Child Advocacy Centers
Founded in 1996, Tennessee Chapter of Children's Advocacy Centers' (TNCAC) mission is to promote, assist and support the development, growth and continuation of child advocacy centers (CACS) in their service to abused and neglected children and their families. This grant will fund child abuse prevention trainings for 1000 adults, purchasing training workbooks and a portion of the prevention specialist's salary. 40 of 50 (80%) of organizations will make positive changes made to expand, clarify or improve policies and procedures. After the training, 70 percent of organizations (35 of 50) will require child abuse training for all staff, background checks for volunteers and employees, and prioritize minimizing one on one situations in their policies and procedures. 60% of participants will commit to specific actions that prevent child sexual abuse including: asking organizations to limit one on one child adult situations; creating observable and interrupt-able child supervision; teaching children that they can tell an adult no and talking to children about how to protect themselves. 750 of 1000, (75%) of participants will demonstrate a 10 % increase in their awareness of the prevalence , consequences and circumstances of child sexual abuse as determined by pre and post test training questionnaires.
