The Exchange Club/Holland J. Stephens Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse is a non-profit 501(c)3 agency established in 1988 and now serving Putnam, Cumberland, Overton, White, DeKalb, and Macon Counties. Licensed by the TN Dept. of Children’s services as a child abuse prevention agency, the mission is to identify families with children (prenatal through age 12) at-risk of child abuse and neglect and to prevent the abuse/neglect through appropriate in-home visitation, group parenting, or community education program. The agency’s goals/outcomes for the year include: 85% (43 of 50) families in the Healthier Beginnings program and 85% (48 of 56) in the Healthy Start program will demonstrate that family stress has been reduced and family functioning has been improved as measured by the Kempe Family Stress/Parent Survey. 85% (34 of 40) families in the Parent-Child Connection group parenting program will demonstrate a decreased risk for child abuse and neglect as demonstrated by the Adult Adolescent Parenting Inventor.
