Established in 1996, Renewal House's Mission: In community with addicted women and their children, Renewal House fosters healing, resiliency and continuing recovery to enhance family health. The agency's continuum of care for women with substance-use disorders and their children is composed of three major services: a long-term, comprehensive Family Residential Program for low-income, primarily homeless addicted women and their children (including prevention services); a Women's Intensive Outpatient Program, offering accessible, licensed, gender-specific drug and alcohol addiction treatment for low-income women; and Affordable Recovery Housing Apartments, providing rental housing in a drug-free environment for women with at least six months in recovery and their children. Its outcomes for the year include: 33 out of 55 (60%) low-income women with substance use disorders will remain clean and sober for at least 30 consecutive days. 20 out of 50 (40%) low-income women with substance use disorders who are assessed as having co-occurring mental health problems at admission will have a follow-up assessment prior to exiting the program and show improvements in mental health status. 11 out of 20 (55%) mothers in recovery who leave the program's transitional housing component will move into permanent housing. 13 out of 20 (65%) mothers in recovery who leave the program's transitional housing component will maintain or regain child custody rights.
