The mission of the The Refuge Center for Counseling, which was founded in 2005, is to  offer affordable professional counseling services in order to empower, educate and support individuals, couples and families in need. The funds requested in the application will support a 10-week sabbatical for Amy Alexander, Executive Director, during which time she will participate in a number of activities and processes with the goal of returning to her role emotionally, physically and spiritually healthier and better able to contribute to the long-term success of The Refuge Center.  Because of her sabbatical, Ms. Alexander hopes to improve her ProQol score by two points for compassion satisfaction, four points for burnout, and five points for secondary traumatic stress.
