Prevent Child Abuse Tennessee began in 1984.  They have developed a prevention network throughout the state of Tennessee and continue to educate the public about the prevalence of child abuse and their role in supporting prevention. Their mission is to prevent the abuse and neglect of Tennessee's children by working with parents, professionals, and communities to provide education, resources, programs, and services that strengthen families. The agency’s outcomes include:  Maternal/Newborn health: 90% of infants will be born full term. 95% of children will maintain immunizations.  97% of mothers who indicate Post-Partum Depression will be connected with services. 80% of smoking mothers will reduce smoking.  Child injuries, neglect or maltreatment:  98% of children will have no substantiated reports to Department of Children's Services. 95% of parents will participate in the AAP Safety Checklist, identifying hazards in their home. 90% of families will be connected with a medical home, reducing ED visits.  Community Based Prevention:  85% of participants in Stewards of Children training will gain increased awareness of the prevalence and consequences of child sexual abuse, with improvement in scores from pre to post-training evaluation. 85% of participants will indicate participation in 5 or more prevention strategies on Post Training Evaluation.
