Established in 1998, Preston Taylor Ministries provides opportunities for youth who live at a high risk for teenage pregnancy; gang involvement; school dropout; drug activity; and poor physical, mental, and emotional health to pursue a hopeful future.  Through an after-school and mentoring program, PTM builds "joy-filled friendships" between youth and caring adults, provides reading instruction and homework assistance, and offers opportunities for faith and leadership development.  Serving over 150 youth, PTM strives to follow its mission: "PTM glorifies Christ Jesus by empowering Preston Taylor children to discover and live their God-inspired dreams through Christian friendships and love for learning". The grant requested in this application will be used to fund the salary of a part-time PTM Life director. 18 out of 20 (90%) students will be able to distinguish healthy from unhealthy foods by successful completion of a PTM-created test.  Mid-Term (6 months): 15 out of 20 (75%) students will be able to run one mile without stopping.  End-term (9 months): 15 out of 20 (75%) students will complete one 5K in less than 40 minutes.
