Oasis Center has worked to improve the lives and conditions of vulnerable youth in Middle Tennessee for nearly 50 years. Founded in 1969 as a drop-in center for teens in crisis (and incorporated as a 501c3 in 1976), Oasis has steadily evolved into a comprehensive youth development agency, dedicated to the healthy development of at-risk youth in Middle Tennessee. Driven “to help youth grow, thrive, and create positive change in their lives and in our community,” Oasis provides Metro Nashville’s most comprehensive spectrum of opportunities for underserved youth. The agency’s goals/outcomes for the year include: 135 youth and families in crisis are provided with residential, educational, and counseling services in the Oasis Emergency Shelter (OES). 95% (128 of 135) of youth who complete their Shelter stay will return home or transition to a non-system placement that best matches his/her immediate needs. 90% (142 of 150) of homeless youth who accept contact from Oasis staff will complete safety planning, outlining immediate steps for harm prevention and accessing services.
