The mission of Hands On Nashville (HON) is meeting community needs through volunteerism. Since 1991, HON has been connecting volunteers to critical issues facing the Middle Tennessee community, such as hunger, homelessness, and environmental protection.  The grant requested in this application will be used to fund a free, five-week, service-learning-based, summer camp for 300 youth that employs a farm-to-table curriculum to grow, harvest, and distribute 1,500 pounds of produce to low-income families, while teaching participants about healthy eating/nutrition, physical activity, and agriculture; training 15 youth apprentices to lead their peers' in service/learning; and evaluating outcomes. 210 of 300 unique youth (70%) will have increased access to fresh foods via the gifting of harvested produce to partner nonprofits from which they receive services. 150 of 300 unique youth (50%) will reduce daily soda consumption and maintain this behavior over six months.  150 of 300 unique youth (50%) will make nutritious food choices when given options and maintain this behavior over a six month term.
