Friends Life Community was established in 2008 with the mission to provide opportunities to teenagers and adults with disabilities to grow personally, develop socially and experience community together. The funds requested in the application will support salaries and benefits for program staff executing physical activity within the program hours, additional digital tracking devices as needed for replacements and to accommodate program growth, additional exercise equipment to enhance indoor physical activity, and the meals to control caloric intake. 21 of 32 current clients (65%) will complete 180 minutes of weekly moderate-intensity exercise, as recommended by the CDC, through the Physical Health and Wellness program. After 6 months, 21 of 32 (65%) of total clients and staff, will show improved or maintained physical health as seen in their increased weekly activity, weight, body mass index and/or body fat percentage to improve or maintain is a goal for long-term positive behavior change toward good health.
