Coffee County Children's Advocacy Center
The mission of the Coffee County Children's Advocacy Center (CCCAC) is to serve children who are victims of severe abuse through prevention, education and intervention. The CCCAC was established in November 2004 and was granted 501(c)(3) status in February 2005. The grant requested in this application will be used to fund the cost of contracting with a licensed clinical therapist(s) who can provide trauma focused therapy to children who have been victims of severe abuse and their non-offending families as well as supplies, administrative costs and ongoing training needed to support the mental health program. Twenty-one out of the thirty (70%) children and non-offending families who participate in the therapy program will complete the therapy process. Of those twenty-one children and families, eighteen of the children and families (85%) will experience a reduction in the trauma symptoms identified by the therapist at the initial intake and evaluation at the conclusion of therapy services. Trauma symptoms may include, but are not limited to such things as depression, anxiety, sleeping problems and other behavior problems. Additionally, 90% (19 of 21) of the families will express an increased ability to deal with the trauma symptoms that may manifest at home.
