CASA Works for abused and neglected children in the Juvenile Courts of Bedford, Coffee and Franklin Counties to ensure that every child has the right to the safe embrace of a loving family.  Volunteers are trained to be Court Appointed Special Advocates.  Upon appointment by the Judge, CASA Volunteers have the authority to talk to anyone who has knowledge of the child and to submit an objective, comprehensive report with recommendations for the best interest of the child. CASA Works was established on February 1, 2010 as an independent organization after operating for ten years under an umbrella organization. The grant requested will be used to fund a portion of a volunteer supervisor.  CASA Works will recruit, train and supervise CASA Volunteers to advocate for abused children in the Juvenile Courts of Bedford, Coffee and Franklin Counties for a goal of 15 new Volunteers.  At case closure, 71 of the 75 cases (95%), CASA Recommendations will be accepted by the court indicating the quality of CASA recommendations.  Historically, our program has 97% implementation of CASA recommendations.  Six months following closure, 67 of the 75 of the children (90%) will remain in the safe embrace of a loving family.
