 Alignment Nashville (AN), established in 2004, is a 501 (c)(3) organization whose mission is aligning community resources so that their coordinated support has a positive impact on public school success, children's health and the success of the community as a whole. AN was developed to ensure all the services children need are provided to them in an effective and efficient way that complements their education, health and well-being, and the goals of the public schools. This grant will be used to fund staffing, administrative support, materials, professional development for cafeteria workers, and professional services for evaluation, related to the coordination and evaluation of Alignment Nashville’s School Nutrition Committee's pilot at 10 schools to increase children's consumption of fresh food and decrease consumption of processed food. At 7 of the 10 (70%) pilot schools, consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables during the school day will increase by 25% by the end of the 2011-12 school year.  At 7 of the 10 (70%) pilot schools, consumption of processed foods during the school day will decrease by 25% by the end of the 2011-12 school year.
